Jevrosimovic: European attendance record broken in Belgrade

BELGRADE - Athletics Federation of Serbia President Veselin Jevrosimovic said Sunday the European Athletics Indoor Championships at Belgrade's Kombank Arena had been the best-organised ever and that Belgrade and Serbia had thus qualified to host the 2020 World Indoor Championships.

"We are receiving praise from everywhere and I think we have qualified to host the World Championships. The attendance record was broken - no European Championships have had so many spectators in a single day," Jevrosimovic said, congratulating the Serbian track-and-field athletes, in particular female long jumper Ivana Spanovic, who won the gold medal.
