The Bulgarian National Revenue Agency Checks 290 People with High Spending but without any Income

Inspectors of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) start inspections of 290 people, who have spent more than 50,000 leva in past years but have no officially declared income.

The common thing among all who are inspected is that they have insured the minimum income but have not even submitted a tax return for their income, the National Revenue Agency said. At the same time, these individuals have incurred significant spending - BGN 50,000 per year.

The revenue agency inspectors investigate sources of income in the families of those surveyed, as well as household spending and costs. If inconsistencies between property and income are identified, tax audits will be commissioned over the past 5 years, NRA adds.

"These 300 cases are the most obvious discrepancies between official income and household expenditure. In addition to these, there are other individuals whose property is more than the declared income, which will also be checked ", stated on the control measures deputy Executive Director of the agency Plamen Dimitrov.
