Croatia to Chair International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance in 2023
Croatia will take over the presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, IHRA, in 2023 after its nomination was unanimously endorsed at IHRA's plenary session, the Croatian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.
"In presenting the nomination, Croatia emphasized its commitment to the continued fight against anti-Semitism and the denial and distortion of the Holocaust," the ministry said.

IHRA consists of 34 member countries and it unites governments and experts to strengthen, advance and promote Holocaust education, research and remembrance.
As an active member of IHRA, Croatia supported the adoption of all IHRA's legally non-binding definitions relating to Holocaust denial and distortion, anti-Semitism and racism against Roma, the ministry said, adding that Croatia was also the first IHRA Member State to translate and publish the IHRA Recommendations for Teaching and Learning about the Holocaust into its language and present them at the national level.
However, more critical observers claim that Croatia has not taken serious measures to stop or even hinder revisionist denials of Croatia's role in the Holocaust while it was a Nazi puppet state, the Independent State of Croatia, NDH, run by the Fascist Ustasa movement, in World War II.
