Serbian company to build second-largest bridge in Norway

BELGRADE - VNG Ltd., a Serbian company based in Novi Sad, will next year start construction of the second-largest bridge in Norway, which will be 1,533 m long.

The Hllogaland bridge, with a 1,145 m main span, will stretch along Rombaksfjorden in the Narvik municipality, Nordland county, said a statement published on Norway's official website for Serbia.

VNG Ltd. and the Chinese steel company Sichuan Road and Bridge Group have a EUR 1 million contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, and it is one of three main contracts.

This project is very interesting because it is a beautiful bridge, said VNG Ltd. Director Zorana Brankovan, who said that she is pleased that her company won the contract.

The company has many years of experience in bridge construction abroad and was involved in the construction of the bridge on the Sava River over Ada Ciganlija.

Brankovan said that the company, which has 30 employees, is ready for the Norwegian market.

The bridge should be completed in 2017.
