PM ensures stability post-Samaras

The government is seeking to move on from the expulsion of former prime minister Antonis Samaras from ruling New Democracy (ND) on Saturday, quelling election rumors and rallying its members.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking at a Bloomberg event titled "The New Era of Greek Banking," dismissed early election speculation linked to Samaras' ousting. The government, he noted, has a stable majority and a strong commitment to seek a renewed mandate in early spring 2027, addressing the expulsion as a "regrettable but isolated" incident "which we are now leaving behind us."

Samaras was expelled due to his persistent criticism of government policies, particularly regarding national issues with Turkey.
