Parliament committee to investigate fatal rail crash
The Parliament approved late Wednesday the setup of an investigative committee that will examine the fatal railway crash of February 28, 2023, that killed 57 near the Vale of Tempe, in central Greece.
Palestinian ambassador greets crowds during solidarity rally in Athens
A concert and rally commenced on Sunday around noon in support of the Palestinian people in Syntagma Square, Athens. The Palestinian Ambassador to Greece, Yussef Dorkhom greeted the crowds and participating artists.
"Palestine, Gaza and the Palestinian people thank you for your solidarity and humanity," said Dorkhom to the people gathered in the Syntagma.

Communist Party leader briefly hospitalized for respiratory infection
Communist Party leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas was briefly hospitalized on Thursday due to a respiratory infection that has been affecting him for the past few days, Greek media reported.
His health problem is not serious but he will not attend a debate in Parliament over the government's handling of the ongoing wildfires in Greece.

Bill on easing vote for Greeks abroad gathering wide support
A bill that will make it easier for Greeks abroad to vote in national elections is expected to secure a wide majority in a debate that started in a parliamentary committee on Thursday.
The current legislation poses a series of limitations to the ability of Greeks residing abroad to vote.
China exports slumped 12.4 percent in June
China's exports tumbled 12.4 percent in June from a year earlier as demand weakened after central banks raised interest rates to curb inflation even as Chinese leaders struggled to keep a post-COVID recovery from faltering.
Customs data released yesterday showed imports slid 6.8 percent to $214.7 billion.
