Cyprus okays US ‘forward deployed’ unit

Nicosia has accepted a request from Washington regarding the arrival of an American Rapid Deployment Forces unit for humanitarian purposes in case of an emergency.
According to the Cyprus News Agency, the United States asked the Republic of Cyprus to give its consent for an American military unit to be stationed temporarily on the island.

Cyprus 'golden passports' to be revoked if wrongdoing found

Cyprus' president is pledging to revoke any passports that were "mistakenly" granted to wealthy investors who were found to have committed wrongdoing.

President Nicos Anastasiades says "errors" may have been made in granting such "golden passports" under an earlier, less-strict version of a lucrative investment program.

Turkish drillship sails away from Cyprus' EEZ

Turkish oil-and-gas drilling ship Fatih, which had been conducting surveying work off southwestern Cyprus, is sailing away from the country's exclusive economic zone (EZZ), Kathimerini Cyprus reported.

The vessel Fatih had been deployed west of Akamas peninsula since last April. It now appears to be heading towards Turkey's coast but has not declared a specific destination.

Tusk calls on Turkey to stop drilling off Cyprus

The president of the European Council has called on Turkey to stop illegal drilling off the coast of Cyprus, saying it's harming efforts to reunify the ethnically split island nation and undermines good relations with the EU.
Donald Tusk said Friday that his presence in the Cypriot capital is a demonstration of the European Union's "full solidarity" with Cyprus.

Prodromou accuses Turkey of invading Cyprus’ territorial waters

Cypriot government spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has condemned Turkish activities inside Cyprus' exclusive economic zone (EEZ) describing it as an invasion of the Mediterranean island's maritime domain.
"This is certainly an invasion of Cyprus' territorial waters," Prodromou told Skai radio on Wednesday.
