Dancila Government

The Standing Bureaus of the two chambers of Parliament decided on Wednesday, in the absence of the Opposition representatives, that the debate and vote of the censure motion will take place on Saturday, as of 11:00hrs.

The censure motion initiated by the Opposition against the Dancila Government, was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday.

National leader of the opposition Save Romania Union (USR) Dan Barna said on Monday that the USR-PLUS alliance can join the government only if there is a parliamentary majority to support the reforms Romania needs.

Presidential candidate of the Save Romanian Union (USR) PLUS Alliance Dan Barna told a news conference in Galati on Friday that a successful no-confidence vote against the Dancila government will open a "real" possibility for early election. He added that the Dancila government lost its legitimacy and that it was natural to be ousted by a no-confidence vote.

Vice Chairman of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE), deputy Varujan Vosganian, told a press conference in Iasi on Friday that the idea of holding early elections is a "bogy", and that no political party really wants the replacement of the current government. Parliament on Tuesday defeated a no-confidence motion called "The Dancila Government must be dismissed! No emergency ordinances, no passwords, no lines for voting." The motion received 200 yeses, 7 noes and 3 abstentions, short of 233 yeses needed to pass. "The no-confidence motion failed to garner the yes votes needed to pass," said Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marcel Ciolacu.

The text of the censure motion contains "mystification of truth" and doesn't have not even a constructive idea that can "bring the improvement of the current act of governance" to the benefit of Romanians, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila stated on Tuesday in the debate of the censure motion called "The Dancila Government must be dismissed!
