Winter shift starts in Turkish zoos
With winter in full force and meteorologists warning against adverse cold weather ahead, Turkish zoos have installed special heating systems for animals who belong to countries having a warm climate.

Penguins fed twice a day with fish in Bursa Zoo
Some 17 penguins in a zoo in the northwestern province of Bursa are fed twice a day with European pilchard, the zoo officials have announced on Aug. 18.
"Fourteen penguins were brought from the Netherlands and Belgium in 2017. Three were born here in Bursa," Önder Sevim, the head of the caretakers in the zoo, told Demirören News Agency.

Zoo hits out at 'hypocrisy' over Jaguar deaths
The Attica Zoological Park at Spata, west of Athens, has accused its critics of "hypocrisy" over the fatal shooting of two rare jaguars that escaped from their enclosure in November.
The incident, which was announced on Saturday, triggered criticism of the zoo by the Panhellenic Animal Welfare and Environmental Federation and Giorgos Amyras, a lawmaker for To Potami.

Sofia Zoo To Get Penguins, Kangaroos
The Sofia Zoo has arranged to get new animals, among which will be Humboldt Penguins and kangaroos, said the recently appointed director of the zoo Manol Neikov, quoted by the Standart daily.
The new additions were negotiated during the annual conference of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).
