Senior refereeing committee official hospitalized after assault with iron bar
The vice president of the Hellenic Football Federation's (EPO) Central Refereeing Committee, Christoforos Zografos, was in the capital's Evangelismos Hospital on Friday after coming under attack outside his home in the central Athens district of Kolonos by two assailants who struck him on the head and arm with iron bars.
Algerian man stabbed to death in Athens neighborhood of Exarchia
A 26-year-old man died in the early hours of Sunday after being attacked in the central Athenian neighborhood of Exarchia.
Hospital sources told the state-run Athens-Macedonia News Agency that the man, identified as an Algerian national, was stabbed with a sharp object and arrived at a local hospital at around 4.30 a.m. Medics were unable to save him.

A 67-year-old man who last week accused a senior heart surgeon and department chief at Athens's Evangelismos Hospital of demanding a bribe to perform life-saving surgery, died on Monday after undergoing a quadruple bypass.
The 67-year-old had been rushed to Evangelismos Hospital in late June after suffering a heart attack which required immediate surgery, his family told media.
