The mother of slain Greek rapper Pavlos Fyssas collapsed in court during the trial of neo-Nazi Golden Dawn on Thursday when the man charged with the musician's murder was brought in to sit at the dock.

New Democracy leads SYRIZA by 6.5 percentage points (by extrapolation after excluding those who will abstain or cast spoilt ballots and apportioning the undecided voters proportionately to the parties decided respondents will vote for) - compared to a 6.2 percentage-point spread in December - in a new survey released today and conducted by the Alco polling company for private Open television.

Minister calls out GD for trying to recruit schoolchildren
Education Minister Costas Gavroglou has denounced neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn for trying to "channel its nationalist poison to high schools."
Speaking to reporters on Monday, he said the "fascists" were trying to recruit pupils through text messages and by approaching them outside schools, urging them to join Golden Dawn-inspired activities in the name of national issues.
Appeals Court chief vows steps to speed up GD trial
The head of the Athens Court of Appeals, Constantinos Stamadianos, vowed measures on Wednesday to accelerate the trial of Greece's neo-fascist Golden Dawn party, which started three-and-a-half years ago.
Greek man shot dead by Albanian police in incident over flag
The killing has caused a strong reaction from Athens.
According to Albanian media, the victim, Konstantinos Katsifas, a 35-yer-old, shot from a Kalashnikov (AK-47) rifle at Albanian police officers who were removing the flag.
Judges deny blame for delays in GD trial
The Greek Union of Judges and Prosecutors hit back on Friday at suggestions the court system is to blame for delays in the ongoing trial of the extreme-right Golden Dawn party.
In a statement, the union cited a shortage of space.
"The court meets 10 times a month because there is no special room to conduct the procedure on a more regular basis," it said.

Prosecution calls for Golden Dawn trial to be speeded up
Twelve attorneys for the prosecution in the ongoing trial against neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn have filed a petition demanding that the proceedings be speeded up with daily sessions that will be restricted to the Athens Court of Appeals.
Golden Dawn MP verbally attacks Muslim lawmaker
Senior-ranking Golden Dawn member Ilias Kasidiaris verbally attacked a Muslim SYRIZA lawmaker on Tuesday during a closed session of the Parliament's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
According to reports, Kasidiaris demanded the removal of SYRIZA MP Mustafa Mustafa using "unacceptable" language.
