A police officer was stabbed to death in Istanbul on Aug. 13 by a suspected member of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), who had been detained for planning a suicide attack, Doğan News Agency has reported. 

Some 102 condoms filled with cannabis found in a Moroccan man's digestive tract were seized at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport during a police search on July 30.

A court ordered to arrest an Istanbul deputy police chief on Feb. 9 after issuing an arrest warrant, one day after he was released after testifying on charges of drug trafficking, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Istanbul's anti-terror police have detained 11 suspects in connection with the Feb. 11 attacks on the offices of dailies Yeni ?afak and Yeni Akit. Reports indicate that the suspects are linked to an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) called the United Freedom Forces (BÖG). 

A Russian tourist has been stabbed and hospitalized in Istanbul's touristic Beyo?lu district after fighting a group of people for an unknown reason.
