The Hellenic Police (ELAS) is casting doubt on the reported break-in at the election director's office of the Interior Ministry at noon on April 26, concluding that it was most likely staged given that no incriminating fingerprints or DNA were found at the scene of the supposed crime.

Police on Crete seize thousands of illegal firecrackers
Police on the island of Crete arrested a man on Thursday accused of possessing and trading thousands of firecrackers and flares, which are illegally used during Easter celebrations in Greece.
Specifically, the Rethymno Police Department conducted an investigation at the business of the suspect in the area of Mylopotamos, and confiscated a total of 52,800 firecrackers.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsostkis insists that his pledge to enforce the law "everywhere" is being implemented, citing the crackdown on sports hooliganism, juvenile delinquency and overall crime.

9 held over fatal building collapse in Piraeus
Nine individuals have been apprehended, three of whom are hospitalized, in connection with Tuesday's fatal collapse of a two-story building along the Akti Moutsopoulou seafront road in Pasalimani, Piraeus.
A 31-year-old off-duty special guard of the Hellenic Police (ELAS), who was participating in the construction work, lost his life in the incident.

Rift among police over ‘golden boys’
