The total value of exports-dispatches in September 2014 came to 2285.8 million euros compared to 2504.5 million euros in September 2013, pointing to 8.7 percent drop, according to figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority, ELSTAT, on Tuesday. The corresponding change excluding oil products recorded a drop of 2 million euros (0.1 percent).

Following a difficult week for the government, Friday’s news that Greece has returned to growth following a protracted recession was welcomed enthusiastically by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras who declared, “Greece is back.”

Greece’s unemployment rate reached 25.9 percent in August, down from 26.1 percent recorded the previous month and 27.8 percent recorded in August, 2013, according to figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority, ELSTAT, on Thursday.
