Police searching for third female militant in Istanbul twin bomb attack

Istanbul police are searching for a third militant in the deadly December 2016 terror attack outside Beşiktaş football club's Vodafone Arena. 

The militant, images of whom suggest is female, is suspected of acting together with and supervising the two militants who carried out the bomb attacks at two sites in downtown Istanbul, claiming at least 45 lives. 

Driver detained after truck breaks security barrier in Istanbul police headquarters

One person was detained on Jan. 21 when police opened fire into the air after a truck broke security barrier in front of police headquarters in Istanbul, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The Istanbul Governor's Office stated that the brake of the truck failed as it broke security barrier in front of the headquarters, noting that it was not a terror-related incident. 

Five detained over Istanbul rocket attacks

Istanbul police on Jan. 21 detained five suspects over the rocket attacks that targeted the provincial police headquarters and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) headquarters in Istanbul on Jan. 20 evening.

Security forces raided 15 addresses across Turkey's largest city, and five people were taken into custody over suspected links to the attackers.

Renowned Turkish designer attacked on apron, arrested

Turkish designer Barbaros Şansal on Jan. 3 was beaten by a group of assailants on the apron of Istanbul Atatürk Airport upon arrival after being expelled from Northern Cyprus over insensitive social media posts, which prompted his detention at the airport by Istanbul police.  

An Istanbul court later ordered the arrest of Şansal on charges of "inciting hatred among public or insult."
