BRUSSELS - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said before a Brussels meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday evening it was important that tensions were reduced in the north of Kosovo-Metohija.

NATO's peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, on Wednesday said it has no evidence that weapons are being smuggled from Serbia to Serbia Orthodox Churches in Kosovo in ambulances, differering from claims made by a UK MP, Alicia Kearns.

At least 50 protesters and more than a dozen NATO peacekeepers from KFOR were injured on Monday in Kosovo's northern town of Zvecan/Zvecane in clashes which erupted in the afternoon.

That base, also known as "Belvedere", is located in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica.

Namely, British, American, Turkish and German instructors of the international armed forces are also present in the mentioned base.

"Kosovo and the Western Balkans region do not have to worry, because NATO remains committed to the stability of the region, regardless of the situation in Ukraine", a KFOR spokesman said.
