A cyclist aged 79 was killed on Saturday in southern Greece after being hit on a provincial road in Tripoli by a car driven by a 37-year-old man.

The elderly man was rushed to the Pan-Arcadian Hospital of Tripoli but died of his injuries a short time later. Local police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

Firefighters were struggling through the night to contain 82 wildfires across Greece, 64 of which started Sunday, the hottest day of the summer so far. Their ongoing efforts were without the help of firefighting planes and helicopters, which do not operate at night.

A 46-year-old man was rushed to a hospital in Ioannina, northwestern Greece, on Sunday afternoon following a brutal knife attack. Local police swiftly responded to the incident and launched an investigation.

Local police said the suspect had been arrested.
As the Voice of America (VOA) reported this morning, there was an exchange of fire between the police and the suspect.
One police officer was among the injured.

According to the Associated Press, several people were attacked with a knife by a man, who was arrested.
Local police stated on Twitter that none of the injured suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police did not release details about the attacker, nor did they specify how many people were injured.

Local police in the town of Blankenburg have said that at least 15 people were injured and at least one person has died. The apartment building where the blast occurred and a nearby kindergarten were evacuated.

A 12-year-old boy was injured when his bicycle was hit by a passing car in the city of Naousa, central Macedonia.

The incident took place on Tuesday night, according to state-run news agency ANA-MPA. The boy was transferred to the Ippokratio Hospital in Thessaloniki for treatment, although it was not clear what his injuries were.

Local police is investigating the incident.
