Death toll from avalanche in Hakkari province rises to 2
The body of another soldier trapped by the avalanche in southeastern Turkey was recovered on Dec. 28, raising the death toll from the incident to two.
The avalanche hit the site on Sunday while soldiers were working to clear snow off a road near a military base in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari province.

Turkish border guards on Dec. 14 took into custody a suspected French-origin terrorist trying to cross into the country from its southern border with Syria, officials said.
The suspect, sought with a red notice and identified only by the initials C.G., tried to enter the country's southern Hatay province with a fake name, said Turkey's National Defense Ministry in a statement.

Turkey 'neutralizes' 11 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq
Turkish security forces "neutralized" 11 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said on Dec. 7.
The terrorists were "neutralized" in an air operation in the Zap and Haftanin regions, the ministry said on Twitter, also sharing footage of the action.
Turkey's anti-terror operations continue without any letup, it added.

Turkish soldier succumbs to injuries
A Turkish soldier succumbed to his wounds from a terrorist attack in Syria, the National Defense Ministry said in a statement on June 12.
He was injured in an attack on an ambulance on June 5 in the Idlib region.
The ministry expressed condolences to the martyr's family, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Turkish nation.

Turkish soldier wounded in Syria succumbs to injuries
A Turkish soldier, who was injured in Syria's northwestern Idlib in April, succumbed to his injuries, the National Defense Ministry said on June 7.
The ministry said the soldier was injured during Turkey's Operation Peace Spring and offered condolences to the family of the killed soldier, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Turkish nation.
