The Average Salary in Bulgaria is BGN 1,730 (EUR 884) in the Second Quarter of 2022
In the second quarter of 2022, the average monthly gross salary was BGN 1,730 (EUR 884.09), increased by 7.8% compared to the first quarter, reported the National Statistical Institute. The economic activities in which the largest increase was registered were "Education" - by 16.2%, "Agriculture, forestry and fisheries" - by 15.5%, and "Mining industry" - by 14.6%.
Increase in Exports from Bulgaria by over 27% up until April
In the first four months of the year, Bulgaria's exports outside the European Union increased by 27.5% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to BGN 9.224 billion. Bulgaria's main trade partners are Turkey, Serbia, USA, North Macedonia, United Kingdom, China and Egypt, which account for 52.6% of exports to third countries.
167 Villages in Bulgaria are without a Single Inhabitant
The depopulation of Bulgarian villages continues. In 1173 villages, which is about one fifth of all settlements in our country, live up to 50 people, and in 167 villages there is not a single inhabitant. This is shown by the data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) at the end of 2021.
Bulgaria: Budget Deficit of 4.1% and Government Debt of 25.1% of GDP in 2021
The institutional sector "State Government" reports a budget deficit of BGN 5.433 billion, which is 4.1% of Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP), according to preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute.
In 2022, the deficit was 4% of GDP, and in the last year before the start of the coronavirus pandemic (2019), a surplus of 2.1% of GDP was reported.

The annual inflation for March 2022 compared to March 2021 in Bulgaria is 12.4%, according to the National Statistical Institute.
The consumer price index for March 2022 compared to February 2022 is 102.2%, i.e. monthly inflation is 2.2%, Inflation since the beginning of the year (March 2022 compared to December 2021) is 5.2%.
Bulgaria: In January and February Exports increased by 34%, but the Balance was Negative
Bulgaria's total foreign trade balance was negative in the first two months of the year and amounted to BGN 2.46 billion, according to the National Statistical Institute. The balance with third countries in the period January - February 2022 is also negative and amounts to BGN 2.51 billion.

The new data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on several main economic indicators are extremely positive. From them, it can be concluded that the Bulgarian economy has already overcome the crisis related to the coronavirus and is entering a period of economic growth.
