First mosque of Athens to become a reality after 70 years
Seventy years ago, it was decided that a mosque would be built in Athens. After delays and setbacks, the time has come for the first mosque to be built. After five competitions, a successful bidder was finally selected in November 2013. The project, budgeted at 964,000 euros, will be constructed on a plot of land owned by the Greek Navy at the area of Eleonas, Athens.
