Bulgaria Battling Snow Chaos: Over 800 Snowplows Clear Roads Amid Severe Weather Conditions
Bulgaria is grappling with the aftermath of heavy snowfall, mobilizing over 800 snowplows to clear roads across the country, according to the Road Agency. Highways, first-class and second-class roads, as well as mountain passes, are receiving priority attention in the ongoing snow removal efforts.
Bulgaria: Heavy Snowfall Has Closed Some Mountain Passes
The snowfall, which started during the day in Western Bulgaria, intensified in the evening, moving east. The Troyan-Karnare pass is closed for traffic of all motor vehicles, the Regional Road Administration in Lovech announced.

The situation on the roads across the country remains complicated due to heavy rains and snowfalls. There are currently no reports of serious road incidents.
Petrohan Pass continues to be closed due to fallen branches and snow. Teams of various services are working on the site.
Bulgarian Road Agency: Motorist to Be Careful, Rain Turns into Snow
The Road Agency is warning motorists to drive carefully, as Weather Service forecasts rain turning into snowfor overnight and tomorrow in high-mountain regions.
Drivers should make sure their vehicle have right tyres, drive at appropriate speed and with caution, observe the necessary distance and avoid risky overtaking, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) urged.

Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency on August 14 filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's office against the owner of the secondary raw material plant in Dupnitsa. The company's waste caused a huge fire on Struma motorway.
Echemishka Tunnel on Hemus Motorway Closed to Traffic due to a Training Exercise
A large-scale training exercise of the Ministry of the Interior and the Road Agency takes place on Hemus Motorway on July 10. The traffic through "Echemmiska" tunnel towards Varna is temporarily closed for simulation of a multiple-vehilcle accident with many wounded.
National Road Safety Coordination Center is Established
A National Coordination Center for Safe Road Traffic is being established, the government decided today.
The main task of the new center is to reduce the response time for heavy road accidents or the occurrence of temporary obstacles on the roads as a result of severe weather conditions or other force majeure circumstances.
New Repairs on the 'Trakia' Highway
Today, a new repair of the ''Trakia'' highway begins. The place is the "Tsalapitsa" road junction, on the 112th kilometer of the highway. The asphalt pavement will be changed.
At different stages the road links will be closed. At first, from 08:00 am to 8:00 pm today the Sofia - Tsalapitsa connection will be closed.
A bypass route will be provided.

According to Traffic Police, there is heavy traffic on the Trakia motorway, the Ministry of Interior said. They said that all cars were in the active lane and that in some areas of ongoing repairs drivers could also use the emergency lane in the direction of Sofia in accordance with the signs.

8 Regions in Bulgaria Under Code Yellow over Freeze
A code yellow warning ice in 8 northern Bulgarian regions on Tuesday has been issued according to the National Meteorology Institute.
The warning is valid for the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Lovech and Sofia-region.
