Austria's former vice-chancellor and longtime leader of the far-right Freedom Party (FPOe) stands trial for alleged corruption on July 6, in a case linked to a scandal that brought down the government.

The far-left anti-memorandum bloc that emerged after the split with leftist SYRIZA appears to have attracted the support of the high-flying Spanish party once dubbed as SYRIZA’s “sister party” on the Iberian peninsula, Podemos.
