PKK militants preparing car bomb 'neutralized' in Turkey's east

Security forces in Turkey's east "neutralized" on Aug. 22 three outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, who had been preparing for an attack, the Turkish Armed Forces has stated.

The military said the militants were "neutralized" during an operation backed by the Turkish Air Force in a rural area of the Gürpınar district of the eastern province of Van in the morning hours.

Greek F-16 fighter jets engaged in dog fights with a pair of Turkish jets over the Aegean Sea, as the Hellenic Air Force General Staff recorded a new wave of violations of Greek airspace over the Aegean Sea by the Turkish Air Force. Over 30 violations were recorded by two Turkish F-16 jets and a pair of CN-235 reconnaissance aircraft.
