Turkish army chief inspects 'Olive Branch' troops in border province of Hatay

Turkey's army chief on May 25 visited the southern border province of Hatay to inspect troops taking part in the ongoing Operation Olive Branch in northwestern Syria. 

In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar was briefed by the commanders on duty in the region and issued orders.

Turkey's military reshuffle aims for a new structuring following FETÖ coup attempt

Turkey's annual military reshuffle was focused on bringing about a new shape and vision to the command echelon with replacements of land, air and naval forces commanders as well as promotions of commando colonels as generals, a year after the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) were shaken entirely because of a failed coup staged by a high-ranking personnel loyal to the U.S.-based Fethullah Gülen.

Turkey's top military board convenes for key meeting in Ankara

The Supreme Military Board (YAŞ) convened for a critical meeting under Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on Aug. 2 to discuss promotions and expulsions from the military.

It is the third supreme military board meeting since the last year's failed coup attempt and the second with its changed structure.

Turkey renews top military brass, appoints Gen. Akar as the top soldier

Turkey has renewed its top military brass and appointed Land Forces Commander Gen. Hulusi Akar as the new Chief of General Staff, as his predecessor Gen. Necdet Özel has completed his four-year mandate. Gen. Özel is expected to hand over his seat to Gen. Akar on Aug. 14. 

Turkey's Supreme Military Council convenes for promotions and retirements

Turkey's Supreme Military Council (YA?) convened for its regular annual meeting on Aug. 3 to discuss appointments and retirements of high-ranking staff officers and generals in the Turkish Armed Forces, as well as for the removal of military personnel from the army.
