Michael Douglas to receive honorary Palme at Cannes
Film star Michael Douglas will receive an honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival later this month, the organizers announced on May 3.
The award recognizes the 78-year-old's "brilliant career and engagement with cinema" and there will be a homage to the actor during the opening ceremony on May 16.

Julia Ducournau's "Titane," a wild body-horror thriller featuring sex with a car and a surprisingly tender heart, won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, news wires reported. Ducournau became the second female filmmaker to win the festival's top honor in its 74 year history.

Romanian film director Jude to be honoured at 49th edition of La Rochelle Cinema Festival
Romanian film director and screenwriter Radu Jude will be honoured at the La Rochelle Cinema (FEMA)Festival, which will take place June 25-July 4. At the 49th edition of the event in France, Jude will be honoured alongside French filmmaker Xavier Beauvois, Lebanese filmmakers Joanna Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige, and French composer Gabriel Yared.

The legendary director, Agnes Varda, one of the prominent representatives of the New Wave in French Cinema, died Thursday night at the age of 90, the France press reported.
The agency has received the sad news from members of her family. It has occurred in their presence due to cancer.

Master of Art Film Festival Features 77 Titles from Around the World
The third edition of Master of Arts Film Festival, dedicated to the world's biggest names in world art and culture, has 77 titles from around the world. Ten productions are Bulgarian. The films will be shown from April 30th in Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, the organizers announced.
