Upon the killing of the head of Diyarbak?r Bar Association Tahir Elçi, head of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) Metin Feyzio?lu called all heads of bar associations in Turkey to go to Diyarbak?r.

Feyzio?lu himself also departed for Diyarbak?r with the executive board of TBB. He said, "This mean attack was not against our brother Tahir but against the entire Turkey."

A curfew was declared in the southeastern town of Sur, where the Diyarbak?r Bar Association head Tahir Elçi was killed early on Nov. 28.

Diyarbat?r Governor's Office said Elçi and one policeman were killed in a gun attack as two officials were wounded.

"This incident shows how righteous is Turkey in its determination in struggle against terrorism," 

Tahir Elçi, the head of the Bar Association in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbak?r, was killed in a gun attack following a press meeting, as one policeman was also killed in a clash.

Interor Minister Efkan Ala said in a press meeting that attackers shot at security forces from a car after the press meeting, killing one policeman.
