Kosovo on Alert Over Serb Orthodox Holiday

Police have boosted their presence throughout Kosovo in preparation for the main religious holiday of the Serbian minority.

Ice thrown at Serbian Pilgrims in Gjakova

Kosovo police arrested two members of the nationalist Vetevendosje Movement for throwing ice at a bus carrying pilgrims to Serbian Orthodox ceremonies in the western town of Gjakova.

Arrested Imam Faces Terrorism Charges in Kosovo

Kosovo Police said the unnamed imam arrested in Gjilan was suspected of “encouraging jihad”, meaning “holy war”. They also said they found the cleric hiding in woods near his home.

Both arrested persons have allegedly recruited people for terrorist purposes and incited racial, religious and ethnic hatred.

Kosovo Police Arrest 11 Over Privatization Deal

Kosovo police announced they had arrested 11 people suspected of abusing official authority and economic authorization, and of fraud, related to the privatization of a company.

Baki Kelani, police spokesperson, said the arrests concerned the privatization of Fan, a company based in Podujeva/Podujevo.

The company was sold off by the Privatization Agency of Kosovo, PAK.

Attack on Police in North Kosovo Probed

Kosovo Police said the investigation into Monday night's attack on three Serbian police officers, one male and two females, is ongoing, but they had no information on the motive.

“The officers survived the attack and are out of danger. The investigation will reveal the motives,” Baki Kelani, police spokesperson, told Balkan Insight.
