Two Russian warplanes violated Turkish airspace for 17 seconds: Turkey

Two Russian warplanes violated Turkish national airspace for 17 seconds, flying 1.36 miles into Turkish borders on Nov. 24, Turkey has reported in a letter to the United Nations Security Council. According to the letter, one plane left Turkish territory after multiple warnings, while the other was fired at and subsequently downed by Turkish F-16 jets after ignoring the repeated warnings.

UN Sec Gen Ban urges Russia, US to cooperate on terrorism

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged Russia and the United States on Nov. 22 to cooperate in rooting out terrorism and said he would unveil a comprehensive plan to fight extremism and violence early next year.

"All these terrorists and ideology extremists should be defeated in the name of humanity," he said at the annual East Asia Summit, this year hosted by Malaysia. 

UN head 'looking forward' to discussing Paris attacks with G-20 leaders in Turkey

The world needs "cool heads" to prevail and leaders to come together, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has told the Hürriyet Daily News ahead of his arrival in the Turkish city of Antalya on Nov. 14 to attend the Group of 20 Summit.

The U.N. chief said he was looking forward to discussing the matter with leaders at the G-20.
