The costumes created by Oscar-winning designer Holly Waddington for Yorgos Lanthimos' film "Poor Things" follow the journey of Bella Baxter - the main character played by Emma Stone - from childhood to adulthood and witness the transition from the heroine's complete dependence on men to her complete empowerment.

Some people call it "the best movie of the year" - "Poor Things" will be one of the main contenders for this year's Oscar Awards. Based on Alasdair Gray's novel of the same name, the film offers a modern perspective on the story of Frankenstein.

Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos' film "Poor Things" dominated the Greek box office, surpassing 200,000 tickets within 15 days, according to Greek audiovisual company Feelgood. 

"Oppenheimer," Christopher Nolan's drama about the inventor of the atomic bomb, topped the Golden Globes on Sunday.

"Oppenheimer" took five prizes including best drama, best director for Nolan, best score, as well as acting wins for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.

Tranquility, certainty, satisfaction - these were the vibes exuded by Yorgos Lanthimos on Sunday morning as he convened with a pack of journalists at the Hotel Grande Bretagne in central Athens to delve into his latest film.

It is sickly hilarious to make a movie in which so much consensual sex is had, often so gleefully, that is not the least bit sexy. Though Bella Baxter's insatiable libido might be her guiding light at first in "Poor Things," sexual liberation (or "furious jumping," as she calls it) is only part of this fantastical, anarchic journey to consciousness.

It's one thing to cry while performing. Emma Stone can do that. What she doesn't want to do, and what she found herself doing anyway, is to cry in the middle of an interview.

"I'm such an actor, what is wrong with me?" she said, her eyes welling up with tears.
