Statements made by a deputy assistant US secretary of state are by far "the most difficult public and very undiplomatic pressure on our country to date."

This was the reaction of Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin to remarks Hoyt Brian Yee made in Belgrade on Monday, where he participated in the 17th Serbian Economic Summit.

Head of the Serbian Radical Party MPs' group in Vojvodina's parliament, Djuradj Jaksic, told BIRN that his party has asked the province's authorities to earmark funds in the next year's budget to open a second Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Centre in the country.

Deputy Assistant U.S. Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee says his country "doesn't oppose Russia's helping in humanitarian crises and emergencies."

However, Washington is suspicious of the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center in the town of Nis, he told the Belgrade weekly NIN in an interview quoted by Beta.

The US Senate is very much concerned about the Russian-Serbian disaster relief center in Serbia's Nis, which US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Hoyt Brian Yee calls "a special center for espionage or other nefarious activities."

President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he and US State Department official Hoyt Brian Yee spoke about "virtually all issues" when they met in Belgrade.

Yee was in the Serbian capital on Friday for Vucic's inaugural reception.
