Far-right MP charged with treason released on bail

The former Golden Dawn MP Constantinos Barbarousis, who is accused of treason, was released on bail on Wednesday, after appearing before an examining magistrate.

Barbarousis was told to pay 30,000 euros, is barred from leaving the country and will have to appear at his local police station three times a month.

The ousted Golden Dawn MP Constantinos Barbarousis, who is accused of treason, has been given until Wednesday to prepare his defense.

He was arrested on Monday morning in the Penteli area of northern Athens at a friend's home by counter terrorism officers. He was on the run since Friday after he was indicted by a prosecutor on charges of treason.

Prosecutor to probe ex-Golden Dawn MP over possible treason charges

A Supreme Court prosecutor ordered on Friday an investigation into statements made by the now-former Golden Dawn MP Constantinos Barbarousis for possible treason charges, after he urged the army to arrest Greece's prime minister, president and government coalition partner for what he viewed as a "treasonous" agreement with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) over its name.
