Main opposition CHP appeals to election watchdog to nullify referendum

Turkey's main opposition party and scores of citizens have appealed to the election watchdog for the annulment of a critical referendum that resulted in a narrow win for the government, arguing that unsealed ballot papers and envelopes were counted in open violation of the law.

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has said it will object to the referendum results on grounds that the vote for the constitutional amendment were manipulated in terms of content and method, a party senior has said, while the state-run Anadolu Agency concluded the results as a tight win for the "yes" vote.

8:50 p.m. - The Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) issued a statement on Twitter, saying they would oppose two thirds of the polls whether the results are "yes" or "no." According to data gathered by them there was 3 to 4 percent manipulation, the party said in its statement.
