A police station was set on fire and more than 70 protesters were arrested.
After peaceful protests following the death of a migrant criminal during arrest on Saturday, riots broke out in the Belgian capital last night with a group of demonstrators throwing various objects and firecrackers towards police officers, which used water cannons to disperse them.

EU sanctions threat disappointing: Presidential spokesperson

A draft EU summit statement about potential sanctions on Turkey is "disappointing," presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalın said on Dec. 9. 

Speaking during a German Marshall Fund virtual think tank event, Kalın said he has reviewed the document and hoped EU leaders would "avoid that language of sanctions and threats against Turkey, because sanctions will never work."

Turkish president welcomes Qatari emir in Ankara

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Nov. 26 welcomed Qatar's Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with an official ceremony in the capital Ankara.

Al Thani arrived in Ankara to attend the sixth meeting of the Turkey-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee.

He was welcomed by a ceremony at the presidential complex, and the two leaders met one-to-one following the event.
