Ana Ivanovic 9th, Jelena Jankovic 10th in WTA rankings

LONDON - Ana Ivanovic's good play in Cincinnati, which saw her through to the final, made Serbia once again the only country with two female tennis players among the top 10 in the world.

The success in Cincinnati also made Ivanovic Serbia's best ranked player, since she is now 9th in the WTA rankings, pushing back her compatriot Jelena Jankovic to 10th spot.

Ana Ivanovic in semifinals, Jelena Jankovic ousted

CINCINNATI - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic beat Ukraine's Elina Svitolina 6-2 6-3 at the WTA Cincinnati 2014 on Saturday to reach the semifinals.

Her next opponent will be Russia's Maria Sharapova, who beat Simona Halep of Romania 3-6 6-4 6-4.

Another Serbian contender, Jelena Jankovic, lost to Serena Williams of the US 6-1 6-3.

Jankovic, Ivanovic through to Cincinnati quarter-finals

CINCINNATI - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic are both through to the quarter-finals of the USD 2.56 million WTA Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati.

Jankovic beat Sloane Stephens of the United States 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 late Thursday, while Ivanovic defeated Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) early Friday.

Jelena Jankovic ousted from two events at Rogers Cup

MONTREAL – After frustrating Ana Ivanovic’s Rogers Cup bid on Thursday, American Coco Vandeweghe pulled out a surprise 7-6 (10-8) 2-6, 7-5 victory over Serbia’s best female tennis player Jelena Jankovic Friday morning CET.

It took Vandeweghe two hours and 38 minutes to secure her spot in the quarterfinals.

Jankovic through to Rogers Cup 3rd round, Ivanovic ousted

MONTREAL - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic reached the third round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal early Thursday by beating Sloane Stephens of the United States 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in a marathon match that lasted three hours and 20 minutes.

Jankovic will next face Coco Vandeweghe of the United States, who beat Serbia's Ana Ivanovic 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (7-9), 4-6 early Thursday.
