Turkey seizes over 6.2 mln drug pills

Customs teams confiscated over a ton of Captagon drug pills at the İskenderun Port in southern Turkey, the biggest seizure of its kind, the country's trade minister said on May 16. 

A total of 1,072 kilograms (2,000 pounds) of Captagon drugs - more than 6.2 million pills - were seized during search by customs officials of Hatay province from May 15-16, Mehmet Muş said on Twitter.

Turkish exports hit $18.8 bln in April: Minister

Managing to outpace the pre-pandemic levels, Turkish exports hit $18.8 billion this April, the country's trade minister announced on May 3, citing preliminary data.

"We achieved the highest ever April figure and also the second-highest monthly exports of all times," Mehmet Muş said in a news conference in the capital Ankara.

Turkey replaces trade minister, forms two new ministries

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has replaced Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan by a senior ruling party official, Mehmet Muş, and appointed Derya Yanık as the new minister for family and social services and Vedat Bilgin as the minister for labor and social security after abolishing Family, Labor and Social Services Ministry.

Gov’t submits law proposal on urbanization and zoning to parliament

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has submitted to parliament a law proposal that will bring radical changes in urbanization and zoning.

Illegal structures will be demolished, penalties will be increased, and "annotations" will be issued at deed registration offices, the party's deputy chair, Mehmet Muş, told reporters on Jan. 13.

Turkey's government aims for higher revenues by making changes into the existing tax regime, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Party Group Deputy Chairman Mehmet Muş announced on Oct. 24.
