Trial of gendarmes begins, accused plead not guilty
BELGRADE -- The trial of eight members of the Gendarmerie, charged with beating the brothers of the prime minister and the Belgrade mayor began on Thursday.
The incident that also involved two military police officers coincided with the Gay Pride parade held in Belgrade on September 28.

Goran Dragovic, chief of Serbian Counter-Terrorist unit, will be new commander of Serbian Gendarmery.
Dragovic will take the place of Milenko Bozovic, who will be reassigned to position of Border police Directorate.

BELGRADE -- B92 has unofficially learned that the new commander of the MUP Gendarmerie (Zandarmerija) will be Goran Dragovic.
Dragovic until now served as commander of MUP's Counter-Terrorist Unit (PTJ).

Stefanovic: No criminal should feel safe
BELGRADE - The government intends to ensure that no criminal can feel safe in the country, Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said as the Gendarmerie celebrated its day on Friday.
"We must break the back of organised crime in this country," Stefanovic said at a ceremony hosted by the 2nd Gendarmerie Squad in Rakovica, Belgrade.

President Nikolic confers with Gendarmerie commander
BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic conferred on Wednesday with Gendarmerie Commander Milenko Bozovic on the occasion of the Gendarmerie Day and congratulated the forces on efficient organization and aid they offered during floods.
