Tatar says next UN Cyprus talks to include Türkiye, Greece

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Ersin Tatar announced Tuesday that Türkiye and Greece would participate in the next meeting with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the Cyprus issue.

The announcement came after an informal dinner at U.N. headquarters in New York, with Nikos Christodoulides, leader of the Greek Cypriot administration.

Tatar demands ‘sovereignty’ recognition ahead of meeting with Christodoulides

Turkish-Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar stated on Monday that the "sovereignty" of Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus should be recognized for any negotiations to proceed.

His statement came ahead of an informal dinner with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, scheduled to take place in New York on Tuesday at the invitation of U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Cyprus: Informal dinner between Christodoulides and Tatar on Tuesday in New York

The informal dinner between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders, in the presence of the UN Secretary-General, will take place next Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the UN headquarters in New York, according to UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq during a press briefing.
