Türkiye’s malls struggling under heavy debt

Despite booming retail sales, many of Türkiye's shopping centers are struggling under heavy debt, according to Nuri Şapkacı, the president of the Council of Shopping Centers (AYD).

"Some 60 to 70 percent of the 445 shopping malls in the country have already been taken over by banks, while the remaining ones are struggling to survive," Şapkacı said.

Ministry starts the research on Pasha Gate Inscription

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has started research on the lost inscription of the Pasha Gate of Edirne Governorship Building, built by Edirne Governor Ali Celal Pasha in 1818.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated archival research has been started to search on when, by whom or how the inscription was displaced.

The number of the endangered mountain gazelles, also known as "Gazella gazellas," in the southern province of Hatay, is growing, while the species' population in the world is dwindling, local authorities said on Jan. 21.

With the latest spotting, the population of the mountain gazelles has gone up by 23 percent in a year from 925 and reached 1,141.
