ISTANBUL - Serbia's Laslo Djere is through to the quarter-finals of the ATP tennis tournament in Istanbul after beating fourth-seeded Paolo Lorenzi of Italy 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday.

In-form Djere, who last week played in the Budapest semi-finals, won after 77 minutes of play.

MELBOURNE - Serbia's Viktor Troicki on Wednesday beat Italian Paolo Lorenzi 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3 in the second round of the Australian Open tennis tournament.

Troicki, who won after nearly 4 hours of play, will next face fourth-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, against whom he is 0-7 head-to-head.

SYDNEY - Serbia's Viktor Troicki has got off to a successful start to his title defence campaign at the Sydney ATP tournament after beating Italian Paolo Lorenzi 6-3, 6-4 in the second round on Wednesday.

Troicki, who won after 90 minutes of play, will next face German Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Bulgaria's highest-ranking tennis player Grigor Dimitrov has won a tough match against Paolo Lorenzi (Italy), making it into the second round of Australian Open.

It took Dimitrov 2 h 27 min to defeat Lorenzi 6:3, 7:6 (8), 6:3, in a contested encounter against the world's No. 57.

Dimitrov has gradually slumped to No. 28 since the end of 2014, down from the Top 10.

MIAMI - World No. 1 Novak Djokovic will begin his campaign in Miami against Slovakia's Martin Klizan.

The Slovakian advanced after a 6-3, 6-4 win over Italy's Paolo Lorenzi on Thursday. Top-seeded Djokovic received a bye in the first round, and the match against Klizan will take place in the night between Saturday and Sunday, at 1 a.m. CET.

LONDON - Serbian tennis player Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor of Canada made a winning start in the doubles first round at Wimbledon, after defeating Italian pair Paolo Lorenzi and Andreas Seppi 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday evening.
Zimonjic and Nestor have been seeded third.
