Donald Trump to skip annual dinner as media row heats up

President Donald Trump has ratcheted up his feud with the U.S. media, announcing he will skip the annual correspondents' dinner one day after a row erupted over White House press access.

By skipping the April 29 event Trump breaks a tradition in which the U.S. president is the guest of honor at a light-hearted roast held by journalists and studded with celebrities.

White House bars some news organizations from briefing

The White House excluded several major U.S. news organizations, including some it has openly criticized, from an off-camera briefing held by the White House press secretary on Feb. 24, representatives of the organizations said. Reporters for CNN, The New York Times, Politico, The Los Angeles Times and BuzzFeed were not allowed into the session in the office of press secretary Sean Spicer.

Trump 'Expects' Russia Should Give Crimea Back to Ukraine - Official

White House Spokesperson Sean Spicer said on Tuesday US President Donald Trump expects Russia to return Crimea to Ukraine.

At a daily news briefing, Spicer told reporters "President Trump has made it very clear that he expects the Russian government to de-escalate violence in the Ukraine and return Crimea."
