High school graduates in Greece have nine days to submit their university subject preferences based on their national exam scores and the minimum entry scores announced Tuesday for each program.

Students took the four university entrance exams last month in subjects aligned with their academic focus, whether in science, the humanities or technical fields.

“Education or Career?” is the pivotal question that applicants must address before commencing the application process, beginning today or tomorrow and closing on July 18. An essential aspect in deciding on a university program lies in meticulously reviewing the Study Guide and evaluating the courses available.

Some 20 departments of Greek universities have had a low, even single-digit, number of admissions in recent years due to the low demand from students participating in the Panhellenic entry examinations. 

More than one in four secondary school pupils is an A student. At least in theory.

The threshold of excellence, 18 out of 20 in the scale in use in Greek high schools, was attained by 179,580 students out of a total of 680,000 last academic year, Education Ministry data show.
