Ponta visits Belgrade to meet with Serbian leaders

BELGRADE - Romania's Prime Minister Victor Ponta started off his visit to Belgrade on Thursday by meeting with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic.

Vucic welcomed Ponta outside Palace Serbia.

The meeting will be followed by a plenary meeting of the two countries' delegations, the Serbian government office for media relations has stated.

EUR 1.8 bn pledged for Serbia and Bosnia

BRUSSELS -- A total of EUR 1.846 billion worth of aid for Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina was raised at the donor conference in Brussels on Wednesday.

This was announced by European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva at the conclusion of the conference.

Fule Urges Solidarity at Flood Aid Conference

The EU Enlargement Commissioner, Stefan Fuele, called on the international donors' conference, which opened in Brussels on Wednesday, to show solidarity when pledging assistance to flood-hit Bosnia and Serbia.

"I hope we can use this moment of solidarity to help ensure that the countries of this region never have to endure the same destruction as we witnessed in May," he said.

Films about floods mark start of Donor Conference

BRUSSELS - Three films about the May floods in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and about the reaction from the international community to the event marked the start of the Donor Conference in Brussels on Wednesday under the motto Rebuilding Together, which will be used to help repair the damage caused by the natural disaster.
