Alexandra Nika and Konstantinos Argyros are experiencing one of the happiest moments of their lives as they welcomed their first child. The 25-year-old partner of the famous singer gave birth to a healthy baby boy at the “MITERA” maternity hospital on Friday, November 22. The new family member will be named Vasilis, in honor of Konstantinos Argyros’ father.

A man died on Friday as several forest fires fanned by gale-force winds battered Greece's southern tip and forced evacuations, the fire brigade said.

The man, 55, was injured in a blaze in the region of Ilia on the Peloponnese peninsula and died at a hospital, said a fire service official.

Work continued on Tuesday to restore the Corinth Canal after a rockfall earlier this month blocked the 6.4-km transit route used by ships and pleasure yachts. The waterway is expected to reopen on November 28. [Vasilis Psomas/ANA-MPA]
