US issues travel warning over marches on Turkey's Republic Day

The U.S. Department of State has issued a travel warning over marches on Turkey's Republic Day on Oct. 29.

"The U.S. Embassy Ankara informs U.S. citizens that several political groups have announced that their supporters will march in Ankara from the old Parliament building in Ulus to the Anitkabir mausoleum on Oct. 29, 2016.

Government completes removal of military units from city centers after failed coup

The Turkish government has completed the removal of military units from city centers, including Istanbul and the capital Ankara, as part of measures taken in the aftermath of the failed coup attempt of July 15. 
The relocation process has included key military divisions in the capital with their tanks, armored vehicles, and all their military equipment.

Police in Ankara on Sept. 8 detained the lawyer of a former Adana Public Chief prosecutor and two other prosecutors who are currently under arrest for ordering the 2014 stop and search of Turkish intelligence service trucks bound for Syria with the alleged purpose of arming Syrian rebels, a claim denied by government officials. 

Turkey Detains Numerous IS Suspects in Large-scale Anti-terrorist Operations

Turkish authorities detained numerous Islamic State (IS) suspects in large-scale anti-terrorist operations carried out across the country after the deadly suicide attack in Istanbul on Tuesday.

The suicide bomber, who was identified as a Syrian linked to IS, blew himself up in the popular tourist area of Sultanahmet square in central Istanbul on Tuesday morning.
