Waterfall believed to be sacred dries up for first time
A waterfall in Turkey's Mediterranean province of Antalya has dried out due to the effects of global warming and low precipitation in a time when environmental disasters because of climate change are becoming more common.
Property price index up 3.9 percent monthly
The Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) increased by 3.9 percent month on month in August, the Turkish Central Bank said in a monthly report on Oct. 18.
The index "recorded an annual increase of 33.4 percent in nominal terms and 11.9 percent in real terms," it said.

Turkey to buy 4 firefighting planes following summer wildfires
Turkey has decided to buy four firefighting planes "soon," following the 299 wildfires that erupted in 49 out of all 81 provinces between July 28 and Aug. 12, according to the aviation columnist of daily Hürriyet.
"The buying process will be conducted over by the presidency of defense industries," Uğur Cebeci wrote on Oct. 13.
House sales to foreigners surge by over 25 pct in Sept
Property sales to foreigners in Turkey rose by 25.8 percent annually in September, the country's statistical authority announced on Oct. 13.
Foreigners bought 6,630 properties during the month, according to a statement by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
Among all house sales, 4.5 percent were made to foreigners.
Treasure hunters explode ancient rock tomb
Treasure hunters have exploded the entrance of a 2,500-year-old rock-cut tomb, one of the six ancient sepulchres in the Elmalı district of the southern province of Antalya.
"These are cultural heritages, we must protect them to leave to the next generations," Durmuş Altan, an archaeologist, told Demirören News Agency on Oct. 6.

Turkey starts mass production of over 120 patrol boats
Turkey has started mass production of 122 domestically designed patrol boats to secure the country's coasts, the project's in charge said on Oct. 3.
The boats will be supplied by the defense and shipbuilding industry to the Coast Guard Command and General Directorate of Security.
The project is run by ARES Shipyard in the southern province of Antalya.
Lake in Turkey’s south completely dries up
Lake Avlan, a major lake in Turkey's Mediterranean province of Antalya, has completely dried out due to the effects of global warming and irresponsible agricultural irrigation.
Lack of rainfall and irresponsible agricultural irrigation has turned the freshwater lake of 850 hectares in the province of Antalya's Elmalı district into a desert.
