Hearing of 19 coup soldiers who raided daily Hürriyet to be held on July 17

The hearing of a total of 19 soldiers who raided daily Hürriyet, the Hürriyet Daily News, CNN Türk and Kanal D at the Doğan Media Center in the Bağcılar district of Istanbul on the night of last year's failed coup attempt will begin on July 17, one year after the attempted takeover.

Main opposition CHP hopes justice march to Istanbul will be completed peacefully

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said he believes the "justice march" from Ankara to Istanbul, which he has been walking for 22 days so far, will be completed peacefully with a mass rally in Istanbul's Maltepe district on July 9. 

173 women killed in Turkey in first five months of 2017: Report

Some 173 women were killed by men in the first five months of 2017, according to a report released by a women's rights activist organization on June 5.

The report from women's rights organization "We Will Stop Femicide" stated that 39 women were killed in May, more than any other month.

The organization also stated that 38 children and 17 women were sexually abused in May.

'Healthy' Fenerbahçe key to Euroleague win, says Obradovic

A "healthy" team at the start of the Euroleague playoffs was vital to Fenerbahçe's Euroleague title, coach Zeljko Obradovic has said.

"Before the start of the playoffs, we finally had healthy players. We started working the way we like to do," Obradovic said in an interview with state-run Anadolu Agency.

A physically impaired man who climbed up the stairs on his hands to vote in the referendum due to an elevator malfunction at a school used as a polling station has said he will file complaints against the school administration.
