The Köyceğiz district of the southwestern province of Muğla, the Kemaliye district of the eastern Erzincan province and the Ahlat district of the southeastern province of Bitlis have been nominated to be added to a network of slow cities, Cittaslow.

At least one person drowned and 16 others were rescued after a boat capsized off the Bodrum district of Turkey's southwestern Mugla province, according to security sources on Sept. 23.

Due to extreme heat, tourists holidaying in the western province of Muğla's Fethiye district are rushing to the Saklıkent Canyon, where the water is a cool 5 degrees. Officials say around 4,000 people visit the canyon every day.
