Russian pilot heavily injured after falling 70 meters in parachute accident in Turkey's Fethiye

A Russian pilot was heavily wounded on Sept. 23 after falling 70 meters while parachuting in the Fethiye district of the Aegean province of Muğla, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The pilot, identified as İlia Ivanov, was in the touristic town of Ölüdeniz for parachuting purposes.

A forest fire engulfed the Menteşe district of the Aegean province of Muğla on Sept. 6, as officials have put forward efforts to evacuate a local neighborhood nearby, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The fire broke out in a forest in the Akbük neighborhood at around 2 p.m. and the flames shortly spread due to windy conditions.

Bodrum's white against insects, blue against the evil eye

The century-old lily-white houses of Bodrum, a popular resort town in the western province of Muğla, are known for their wooden doors, blue windows and bougainvilleas.

It is popularly believed that the white paint of the houses, which give Bodrum such a distinctive look, keeps away insects while the blue windows combat the "evil eye."
