Türkiye needs to utilize its huge potential in renewables: Minister
Türkiye has a huge potential in renewable energy that should be put to use, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said.
"We want to increase the installed capacity of 27,000 megawatts in solar and wind with an additional 60,000 megawatts by 2035," Bayraktar told a meeting with businesspeople in the northern province of Trabzon.

Country to witness influx of tourists for Nevruz celebrations
Iranians are expected to visit Türkiye the most during Nevruz celebrations, taking benefit of their two-week national holiday, sector representatives have said.
Iranian tourists are preparing to spend the Nevruz period between March 21 and April 1 in Türkiye. The initial rush of tourists will arrive from the Kapıköy border gate in the eastern province of Van on March 17.
Some 18 cruise ships visited Turkish ports in January
Some 18 cruise ships visited Türkiye's ports in January, bringing nearly 20,000 visitors, according to data from the Transport Ministry.
This marked the highest number of cruise ship passengers visiting the country for the month of January since January 2011, when 20,712 passengers arrived in Türkiye on cruise ships.

Turkish hazelnuts exported to 121 countries
Turkish growers shipped 284,141 tons of hazelnut to 121 countries, generating $1.87 billion in export revenues last year.
In terms of value, exports declined by 9 percent compared with 2022, while the increase in volume was 7 percent.
Europe was once again the largest export market for the Turkish hazelnut.

Atatürk Mansion ready for 100th anniversary
The restoration process has come to an end at the Atatürk Mansion in the northern province of Trabzon, where modern Türkiye founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed and wrote his will.
Some handwritings and figures related to Çanakkale were found on the table in the living room of the mansion, which will be opened to visitors on the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

Norwegian cyclist dies after hit by truck in Trabzon
A 26-year-old Norwegian cyclist has lost his life after being hit by a truck in the northern province of Trabzon's Sürmene district.
The incident occurred in the Çamburnu tunnel on Oct. 23, when Steffene Emil Snppene was struck by the vehicle while traveling from Trabzon to the nearby city of Rize.
