41 workers rescued after 17-day ordeal in collapsed road tunnel in India

Forty-one construction workers emerged dazed and smiling late Tuesday from a collapsed tunnel where they had been stranded the last 17 days — a happy ending to an ordeal that had gripped India and involved a massive rescue operation that overcame several setbacks.

More than a hundred rescuers in northern India on Tuesday struggled for a third day to save workers trapped underground after the road tunnel they were building collapsed.

Excavators have been removing debris since Sunday morning from the site in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand to create an escape tunnel for the 40 workers, who are all alive.

Search and rescue operations after a devastating avalanche that engulfed travellers on a Tibetan highway have ended, Chinese state media reported, with the death toll now at 28.

The snowslide occurred Tuesday evening at the exit of a mountain tunnel in southeastern Tibet, trapping a number of people in their vehicles.

Filming of first Serbian-Indian co-production movie

BELGRADE - Famous Serbian producer and scriptwriter Goran Paskaljevic began filming his new, 17th movie entitled Dev Bhoomi (Land of Gods) at locations in the Himalayan Mountains.

Dev Bhoomi is the first movie to be filmed in Serbian-Indian co-production and Paskaljevic expressed the hope that his film will encourage other film directors and producers to engage in cooperation.
